UNSTC Project - Knights Table Brampton

Hi everyone,

I thought I would put this out to our Local 2333 Skilled Trades to see if anyone is interested in working on this project. The Unifor National Skilled Trades Council has supported organizations like the Knights Table over many years We do have language in our collective bargaining agreement that we have never utilized. Article 24:16, Skilled Trades Leave with pay, A paid leave of absence may be granted to any skilled trade employee to participate in Canadian and International relief project work as mutually agreed to by the Employer and the Unifor National Union.

If anyone is interested in working on this project, please let me know and will speak to the company.

In sol,

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to bring to your attention a project that the National Skilled Trades Council is supporting in Brampton

For over 34 years, Knights Table has served vulnerable individuals and families throughout Brampton and Peel Region. Operating 365 days a year, the organization provides food assistance, hot meals, food bank services, and access to community resources for individuals experiencing poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness. Each year, Knights Table serves more than 200,000 meals and distributes over one million pounds of food to seniors, families, and individuals in need.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of its services, Knights Table recently purchased a new facility located at 73 Hale Road in Brampton. This acquisition was a significant milestone for the organization after years of operating from leased facilities and facing uncertainty regarding available space. The new building will provide a permanent home for their operations and allow it to expand its capacity to serve the community.

The project involves the complete renovation and conversion of approximately 13,000 square feet of warehouse and office space into a modern community hub. Planned improvements include a commercial kitchen, accessible service areas, upgraded electrical and mechanical systems, administrative offices, and meeting space that will support both Knights Table and their community partner organizations.

Recognizing the importance of this project, the Unifor National Skilled Trades Council has committed to supporting various phases of the renovation through the expertise and generosity of our membership. Opportunities being explored include site preparation, excavation, framing, drywall, painting, electrical support, security systems installation, and other construction-related activities as the project progresses.

This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in our communities. By helping create a permanent home for Knights Table, we are contributing to a facility that will serve thousands of vulnerable individuals and families for decades to come.

Should you require additional information regarding the project or opportunities to become involved, please do not hesitate to contact me. See the video below for more information. They truly are a great organization, and we are grateful to be able to support their work.
